Early Japanese Type 14 Nambu Semi-Automatic Pistol, with 4 Magazines, #5032, 8mm Nambu cal., 4.75" barrel, blued finish, straw-finished trigger, all visible numbers matching except magazines, Koishikawa Arsenal proof marks, dated Showa 4.7 (July 1929), small round trigger guard, drift adjustable inverted "V" front sight, integral fixed rear sight with square notch, early type knurled cocking knob, lanyard loop, 25-groove beech wood grips with no visible serial number, has two different types of grip screws, two original non-matching number blued steel magazines with pot metal bases, and two original non-matching number nickel-plated magazines with aluminum bases. Beginning in 1934 these early pistols were recalled to fit a magazine safety. This gun has that modification. Condition is good retaining approx. 80% arsenal refinished rust bluing, with light pitting evident under the bluing, high edgewear to the muzzle, high edges of the slide and frame, trigger guard edges, scattered freckling on the slide sides, barrel, and sides of frame. Grip straps show heavy freckling and staining, typical half-moon scratches around the safety lever area to include a partial line on the left grip, rear segment of the cocking knob has a ding, and heavy wear and loss of finish to the straw on the trigger. Action, hold open, and safety all function properly; bore is lightly frosted overall with strong lands and grooves. Grips show age, soiling, minor dings and small gouges. One blued magazine is very good showing wear lines from use and oxidation to the base. The other blued magazine shows losses to the finish, freckling, pitting, and minor rust, with oxidation to the base. One nickel-plated magazine is very nice showing very light age and use, with minor dings on the base. The other nickel-plated magazine shows a few heavy rust spots, minor blemishes, and wear from use, with minor dings and soiling on the base. Est.: $600-$800. (C&R/PPT)
