Early Semi-Deluxe Marlin Model 39 Lever Action Rifle, #S3752, .22 SL/LR cal., blue and case hardened finish, 24'' octagonal barrel, rear semi-buckhorn and blade front sight with white bead, upper tang with correct inspector star mark and factory tapped for peep sight. Semi-pistol grip ''S'' curve stock is flame figured extra-fancy walnut with matching straight grain through the wrist and forearm, in medium glass finish with early checkered Marlin hard rubber buttplate. Mfg'd ca. 1926-1927. Condition is excellent with smooth functioning action and minimal signs of actual use, having a bright bore and sharp rifling; 98%+ blue finish with friction losses on hammer, trigger and near sight elevator. Barrel flats and edges have faint scattered oxidation but remain largely unmarred as do the screw heads; muzzle has oxidation spots. Case colors are muted to 75% with losses generally on upper tang, lower receiver and lever edges; balance of lever with darkening patina. Stock and forearm are 98% with fine scratching and light impressions appearing to be mainly from rack or cabinet storage; toe of buttplate has a small area of light chipping.
