Early Shiloh Sharps Model 1874 Hartford Single Shot Rifle, #5943, .40 1-3/4 cal; 30" octagonal barrel with blue finish is marked on the top flat "Old Reliable", "C. SHARPS ARMS CO. INC./BIG TIMBER, MONTANA, USA", and ".40 1-3/4". Receiver, lever, and hammer with a color case hardened finish; left side is marked "SHILOH RIFLE MFG. CO. / FARMINGDALE, N.Y." Straight grip walnut stock with case colored crescent buttplate; forend with pewter tip. Barrel features a globe front sight with spirit level, rear sight has been removed and has been filled with a dovetailed sight blank, with tang sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation. Rifle also features double set triggers. The dovetailed mounting block on bottom of the barrel, under the forend, is numbered and matches the rifle. Rifle is in excellent condition. Barrel retains approx. 99% original factory metal finish. Case colors show mild fading to the lever and are otherwise vibrant. Wood with only a few shallow impressions and small handling marks. Action operates smoothly. Bore is mirror bright with excellent rifling. Double set triggers and adjustable sight function properly. Est.: $1,500-$2,000. (Modern)
