The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel. grip/stock configuration & condition: the furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate shows moderate wear and patina. The furniture shows pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches. There are no chips or cracks. The lop measures 13. 25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The furniture rates in very good condition. type of finish: bluedfinish originality: originalbore condition: the bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is very faint erosion towards the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8/10. overall condition: this rifle retains about 90% of its original metal finish. The finish shows patina and freckling on the forend cap, a spot of pitting that has been scrubbed on the left side of the receiver, and occasional scratches. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in very good condition. mechanics: the action functions correctly. Overall, this rifle rates in very good condition and stands as a clean 1936 winchester model 63 from the early production period.
