Elaborately Funken Engraved and Gold Inlaid Browning Superposed Over/Under Shotgun, #72833. 12 ga. 30'' vent rib barrels have 2-3/4'' chambers, target beads, and are choked Full/Full. Superposed boxlock action features single selective trigger, non-auto safety, and auto ejectors. Receiver, trigger guard, upper and lower tangs, and forend iron are extensively engraved and gold inlaid, and signed in gold by FN master engraver ''F(backwards)Funken''. Hunting scenes and wildlife views are surrounded by ornate scroll and numerous dragon heads. This does not appear to be factory, but done at a later date by special commission. Beavertail forend and flat-knob pistol-grip buttstock are of high-gloss Exhibition Grade walnut, with excellent coverage of checkering done at 30 LPI; there is no grip cap, but a Browning Whiteline Target Model butt pad is installed. Stock is at Trap dimensions of 14-1/2''x1-3/8''x1-5/8''. Forend has been modified to be detachable during takedown. Mfg'd 1959. Overall external condition is excellent, with a few handling marks to the buttstock, but no visible edgewear to the receiver. Both sides of the forend with small repairs where it meets the frame. Action locks very tight and has been modified to a mechanical (non-inertia) action, with barrel selector locked on bottom barrel first; bores are mirror bright. A beautiful gun that warrants further research. Est.: $8,500-$10,000. (C&R)(Don Koll collection)
