1897 vintage British military magazine fed bolt action rifle that was sold out service and lightly sporterized by G.E. Fulton of Bisley. Features a blued finish, 30.2" barrel, ramped inverted 'v' front sight, removed rear sight leaf, front volley sight, adjustable BSA sight with variable aperture dioper mounted in place of the rear volley sight, metal forend cap with bayonet lug & piling swivel, serrated trigger, detachable magazine linked to the bottom metal, magazine cut off on the right side of the receiver, dust cover & manual safety on the bolt, tan canvas sling, smooth wood hand guard, full length forend, and straight grip shoulder stock with long tang brass trapdoor buttplate. Includes a 1888 pattern bayonet by Wilkinson with scabbard. The right side of the butt socket is marked '[crown]/VR/BSA & M. Co./1897LE/1' and the dust cover is inscribed "G.E. Fulton. Bisley." The top of the barrel & receiver are marked "SALE[crown]PERMIT" and the barrel is also stamped "E" & "*." The stock is marked with a circular cartouche "BIRMINGHAM.1905"/I on the right side and "H.T." in an oval on the left. Serial numbers match on the receiver, barrel and bolt handle. Rifle exhibits approximately 90% of it;s blued finish showing light scattered wear and a small amount of surface rust on the top of the barrel. Action is smooth, the bore is excellent and the wood stocks are near fine. Condition is NRA Excellent ***Antique Firearm*** From The John F Sukey Collection
