SN:5338A British military magazine fed bolt action service rifle chambered in .303 British. Manufactured circa 1895. Features a blued finish, 20.75" barrel, blade front sight, rear sight graduated to 2000 yards, metal nose cap with protective sight ears, cleaning rod, single barrel band, serrated trigger, detachable 6 round magazine with cut-off on the right side of the receiver, lanyard ring on the left side of the butt socket, dust cover & manual safety on the bolt, smooth wood hand guard, full length forend, straight grip shoulder stock with brass disk, sling bar, and brass trapdoor buttplate containing an oiler. The left side of the butt socket is marked "[crown]/VR/Enfield/1895/1". Stock is marked "M&D/1875/171", Enfield circular cartouche/I/1 and the brass disc is marked "R.C.A./2". Buttplate is marked 'C/RCA/I'. Serial numbers are matching on the receiver, barrel, and rear sight. Rifle exhibits approximately 40% of its thinned blued finish with the balance of the metal surfaces turned to a dark aged brown patina. Action is smooth, bore is very good+ and the stock appears to have a 3" crack on the right side of the wrist but are otherwise in fine condition.
