SN:5924 British military magazine fed bolt action service rifle chambered in .303 British, manufactured circa 1895. Features a blued finish, 20.75" barrel, blade front sight, ladder style rear sight graduated to 2000 yards, metal nose cap with integral front sight ears, cleaning rod, serrated trigger, detachable 6 round magazine with cut-off on the right side of the receiver, dust cover & manual safety on the bolt, smooth wood hand guard, full length forend and straight grip shoulder stock with brass disk, sling bar & brass trapdoor buttplate containing an oiler. The left side of the butt socket is marked '[crown]/VR/ Enfield/1895/1/51." Serial numbers match on the receiver, barrel, and rear sight. Stock shows an embossed carving on the left side of the butt, as well as 'EA' scratched into the stock and the brass disc is marked "7.99" and '11H/51'. The majority of the metal surfaces display an aged brown patina with some original bluing retained in the protected areas. The dust cover shows light pinprick pitting and the magazine shows some rust. Action is smooth, bore is good with a dark ring approximately 1" from the muzzle, and the wood stocks are good showing scattered dings and small gouges.
