English George Newton Side-by-Side Percussion Muzzleloader Hammer Shotgun, #NVSN, 10 bore cal., 33.5" London "Fine Twist" barrels, brown and color case hardened finish, checkered walnut one-piece straight grip stock with hardwood ramrod topped with brass cartridge case, iron tubes, German silver escutcheon for barrel wedge, blank escutcheon shield in the butt, smooth iron buttplate, and brass pin front sight. Color case hardened hammers and lock with border engraving, double triggers, and extended fences. Marked "FINE LONDON TWIST" on the solid rib and "GEORGE NEWTON" on both sides of the action. Mfg'd circa 1830's-1840. Shotgun is in very good overall condition, with the barrels gone to dark brown patina, with a few shallow dings and mild surface erosion. Action functions correctly, holding at half and full-cock. Bores are dark with visible light erosion and surface rust. Nipples are newer replacements.
