DOUBLE RIFLE WITH TRAVEL CASE. Cal. 458 Win. Mag. S# 81815. The 25" shoe lump barrels are fitted with matted quarter rib holding one standing, three folding leaf rear sight and matching front ramp holding gold bead. Unmatted portion of rib is engraved "PAUL JAEGER, INC., JENKINTOWN, PA.". Tops of barrels are marked with steel type and "MADE IN W-GERMANY". Thin gold bands are inlaid around breech ends. Barrel flats are stamped with 1985 German nitro proofs, caliber and S#. A sling eye is soldered to bottom rib. Extractors are fitted with dual pins to engage rimless case, to ensure reliable extraction. Coin finished, nicely filed boxlock action features non automatic safety, pin cocking indicators on top, crossbolt third fastener, small reinforce to frame and double triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with attractively hand cut sprays of scroll within small scroll borders. Bottom of action and trigger plate has extremely fine rendering of a bull elephant done in Bulino style. Trigger plate is also engraved "FRIEDRICH WILH. HEYM" on banner. Matching top lever and trigger guard are blued. Trigger guard tang extends to steel grip cap. Pistol grip buttstock of very nicely marbled European walnut measures 15" over red solid "Old English" pad. Stock features swept right hand cheekpiece and multi point pattern checkering at grip. A sling eye is on toeline. Matching semi beavertail ejector forend with Deeley release, has on/off switch on bottom to disable ejectors when needed. MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAH: approx. 3". Barrel blue showing some high edge wear, action showing some light cleaning. Stock has some sanding marks on right side of butt but otherwise stocks retains nearly all of their original oil finish. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight, ejectors are strong and in time. Switch mechanism works well. A fine safari rifle in a caliber widely available throughout Africa.
