1) INDIAN WAR TO WWII FIELD GEAR. This varied lot includes 2 WWI era detachable shovels heads w/ chains that attach to the WWI era cavalry picket pin. / Spanish American War era haversack for Company B of the 3rd Oregon Infantry. / Canvas covered leather tip scabbard for a 1910 bolo. / Leather implement pouch marked “JEWELL-1918”. / 2 Tan canvas double clip pouches, 1 marked in part “MILLS 1918”, the other, “RUSSELL 1918”. / WWI era Mills over the shoulder suspenders. / 3 Canvas equipment belts. / 2 WWII cotton canvas pouches. / WWII era BAR 6 pocket cartridge belt. / WWI 10 pocket clip belt marked, “LONG7 18”. / 1907 30 cal. Cotton bandolier marked, “FRANKFORD ARSENAL CAL. 30.”. / Collapsible combination mattock & shovel measuring approx. 39" in length. Handle appears to be oak w/ iron strapped support structure & shovel head. CONDITION: all items show light to moderate wear w/ the exception of the BAR belt which is heavily worn. (02-13691, 02-13695/BF). 2) U.S. WWI HELMET WITH ADDED UNIT MARKINGS. U.S. "Brodie" steel helmet. This helmet was designed in England by John Brodie & designated by the U.S. Army as M1917. Mfg. in U.S. after Jan. 1918. Helmet is marked in front w/ Indian head in general style of the 2nd Infantry division insignia. The Indian head is surmounted by a horse’s head & crossed sabers w/ “2” over “F”. Internet research leads to the possibility that this helmet was from the 2nd cavalry regiment which initially served as General Pershing’s escort. After April 1918 troops B,D, F and H were formed into a provisional squadron & were the last element of the regiment to engage the enemy as horse mounted cavalry. Subsequently the 2nd cavalry regiment assisted the 1st & 2nd infantry divisions & participated in the Occ. of Germany in 1919. Helmet marked on right side w/ 1917 & left w/ 1919. Top of helmet has 5 pointed star & rear has crossed U.S. & French flags. Helmet rim is painted white. Markings on helmet appear to be painted over other earlier markings. Markings are in tan & white paint. Helmet is stamped on inside w/ "177ZD". Helmet has leather & felt liner w/ leather sweat band, felt pad in top of helmet. Chin strap is not present. CONDITION: helmet has very nice appearance w/ fading & sm. areas of flaking. Helmet has areas of oxidation around rim on the outside. Wire is in poor, worn condition. Leather straps are cracked, scuffed & missing portions. (02-13698/RW). 3) M1913 SABER PARTS, TROWEL BAYONET HANDLES, PILOT WINGS & MORE. This varied lot includes 2 full size pilot uniform wings. / WWI collar disk. / 3 Sets of grips for M1913 Patton saber. / 4 Throat washers for an M1913 Patton saber. / 2 Wooden slide in handles for an M1873 trowel bayonet. / 5 Leather straps w/ buckles. / Sword knot for an M1913 Patton saber. / Sm. group of WWI era military photographs. / Military police pin. / Pewter 2 1/2" statue of a 1916 cavalry man. / 4 Misc. pins.
