JAEGER RIFLE. Cal. 54. NSN. Bbl. 34" 7 deep groove rifled oct. damascene swamped bbl. w/ sm. copper blade front sight, adj. rear sight. 48.25" Overall. Early lock w/ reinforced serpentine cock, frizzen has braised striated striking plate. Full stock, brass mounted including ramrod, nose cap, lg. 17" floorplate w/ integral ramrod thimble, pierced 7" toe plate wood patchbox cover & pierced buttstock decoration on both sides & top. All brass work is engraved. Stock has relief edge carving along ram rod channel. Bottom of buttstock comb around bbl. tang w/ additional crosshatch designs. CONDITION: very good overall, appears complete & matching. Iron is an overall mostly smooth, brown patina. Brass is a mix of chocolate to medium mustard patinas. Brass inlays are intact other than 3 sm. missing rosettes, a few edges of inlays slightly raised. Mechanically functional w/ clean rifled bore. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti.
