REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 918. Bbl. 8” w/ 1-line Hartford address. This early Model 1860 Army is produced just prior to the Civil War & many were shipped to Southern states. Many saw Confederate usage & most saw hard use. This is a fine example, retaining finish that is matching throughout w/ strong mechanics & bore. Standard configuration w/ S# in one flute on cyl. w/ “PATENTED SEPT. 10TH 1860”. Frame is stamped w/ sm. “COLTS / PATENT”. Brass back strap & trigger guard are silver plated, varnished grips. CONDITION: very good overall, bbl. retains about 10% finish (especially in protected areas). Cyl. has traces of blue finish in flutes. Frame & hammer have strong traces of case colors w/ balance smooth gray. Back strap & trigger guard retain about 80% silver plate w/ bubbling on back strap. Grips are sound & well fit w/ moderate edge wear retaining about 60% original varnish w/ scattered dings & dents. Mechanically fine w/ crisp, rifled bore. (01-18176/JS). ANTIQUE. $5,000-7,000.
