"JIM TURPIN" INSCRIBED. Cal. 45. S# 18775 (frame). Blue & color case hardened w/ 5 1/2" bbl., full front sight & 1 line block letter address. Left side of frame has 2 line, 3 patent dates & "U.S". Mounted w/ 1 piece walnut grip w/ no cartouche or inspection. Buttstrap is inscribed “JIM TURPIN” in period style. Frame is numbered "18775". Trigger guard is numbered "131933" & buttstrap "1170". Cyl. has partial indiscernible number w/ inspection “K” on rear face, & bbl. is 8300 w/ inspection “P”. Grip is not numbered & has “BILLY B” crudely carved in channel. Ejector housing has bulls eye ejector rod head & has dimpled ends to arbor. CONDITION: about fine, numbers as noted above. Bbl. retains about 50-60% glossy original blue w/ most of the losses on each side of the muzzle, thinning on the left side. Ejector housing retains bright blue in the gullets, worn to bare metal on the outer radius. Frame & hammer retain strong traces of bright & muted case colors, balance overall silver/blue patina. Trigger guard & backstrap retain traces of blue w/ the balance a grey/brown patina. Cyl. retains bright blue in the flutes w/ the outer diameter a thin blue/grey patina. Grip is sound showing moderate edge wear w/ 2 notches on right side. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. (01-17276/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
