FINE COLT MODEL 1860 ARMY REVOLVER

WITH VARIANT SHORT BARREL. Cal. 44. S# 149446. Bbl. 6 1/4". This is an interesting gun that appears to have bbl. shortened from it's time of use. The German silver blade sight is well fit. Other than nonstandard bbl. length, revolver confirms to other "1863" mfg. civilian armys w/ one line New York address, blue & case colored. The cyl. has military subinspectors & numbered "8377" but renumbered by factory "9446" matching rest of gun. There is a sm. "S" stamped above or below each S# & "3" stamped on left side of rear trigger bow web just below "44CAL". CONDITION: very good to fine overall as armory quality refinish. Appears all original & matching. Revolver retains 10-20% blue on bbl. in protected areas, strong traces of blue on cyl. where protected. Crisp rolled naval battle cyl. scene. Frame retains about half its muted case colors. Traces of silver in protected areas on triggerguard. Iron backstrap retains about 10% blue finish. Grips are well-fit, retaining about half their original factory varnish. Mechanically fine w/ crisp rifle bore. (01-20205/JS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-4,500.
