LIGHT GAME GUN. Cal. 20 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 30870. Bbls. 28" Demi-bloc w/ solid matted rib, are engraved "Von Lengerke & Detmold, Inc." & "New - York" on top bbl. either side of rib. Breech portion is nicely engraved in rose & scroll motif. Bottom bbl. marked "GERMANY" & "20 - 2 1/2"". Casehardened dbl. Kerston scallop-backed O/U action features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold) & dbl. triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved w/ more rose & scroll surrounding nicely rendered game scenes portraying a nye of 4 pheasant resting in meadow on left & a group of quail (?) on right; three are feeding, two flushing over a rail fence. "Greifelt & Co Suhl" is under each game scene. Fences & reinforcing bolsters are beautifully relief engraved w/ blossoms & foliage. Blued trigger guard w/ more rose & scroll has S# on tang. Lightly figured & somewhat streaked European walnut rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14 1/8" over ribbed horn buttplate. There are inset horn diamonds at drop points & point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching 3 piece ejector forend has Anson type release. Bore diameters: top .627, choke .027 (full), bottom .627, choke .017 (mod). Wall thickness: top .032, bottom .032. DAC: 1 3/4". DAH: 2 3/4". Neutral cast. LOP: 14 1/8". WEIGHT: 5 lbs. 12 oz. CONDITION: near excellent, as partially & lightly refinished. Bbls. retain approx. 90% of what appears to be original blue w/ sharp edge wear along rib. Action retains 70-80% original casehardening color w/ relief engraving nicely highlighted by slight silvering of high spots. Trigger guard & top lever retain approx 80% of their original blue. Stocks lightly re-polished w/ a few subsequent marks, checkering competently freshened. Bores are very fine to excellent, bright & shiny throughout w/ a couple of sm. pings. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are out of time. These beautiful lightweight little guns were offered by Abercrombie & Fitch in 1933 for $450.00. The same catalog offered CHE Parkers for $236.50.
