SPECIAL GRADE SXS SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 Ga., 3". S# 62067. In 1958 this fine little shotgun retailed for $192.00. Bbls. 26 1/8" dovetailed fitted w/ slightly raised flat matted rib. Tops of bbls. are stamped with steel type & "V. Bernardelli-Gardone V.T.". Engine turned bbl. flats are stamped "1961" & Italian nitro proofs. Extractor is stamped w/ chamber length "75" (3"). Coin finished scalloped backed boxlock action features non automatic safety, hidden third fastener, single non selective trigger & reinforced side bolsters. Action is engraved w/ near full coverage. Attractive long sprays of shaded scroll surrounding vignettes of game. A pair of doves are on the left side & 2 ducks in a marsh on right. Bottom of action pictures an oval scene of a running stag & 2 hinds. Blued trigger guard w/ matching scroll. Another dove appears on bow. Lightly streaked & fiddle figured European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock. Measures 13 7/8" over Bernardelli embossed hard rubber buttplate. Well cut point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching sm. beavertail forend w/ schnabeled tip has Anson release. Measurements: bbls. Bore diameter left: .614. Restriction: .021 (mod). Bore diameter right: .613. Restriction: .008 (IC). Wall thickness left: .047. Wall restriction right: .040. DAC: 1 3/8". DAH: 2 3/8". No cast. Weight: 6 lbs 3 oz. CONDITION: very fine. Original as found. Bbls. retaining over 95% original blue w/ a couple of light marks & scratches; mostly toward breech end of right bbl. Action retains essentially all of its coin finish w/ no evidence of cleaning. Blue of top lever thumb piece is slightly silver, as is safety button. Trigger guard retains nearly all of its original blue. There are only 1 or 2 minor marks in original oil finish of stocks. Checkering has very light wear. Chrome plated bores are very fine. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Trigger appears to work well.
