HOLSTER. Cal. 36. S# 68666. This very attractive pistol & holster is fresh from a Portland estate. Pistol has survived in immaculate condition retaining much of its original finish w/ fine private purchase military flap holster. Standard configuration, bbl. 7.5" oct. w/ early 1 line New York address, small triggerguard & “US” stamped below “COLT’S PATENT” on frame. All major components have sm. inspector initials which was typical on pre Civil War government purchased navies. This revolver was made in 1857. Most sm. arms in service this early saw hard use before & through the Civil War. This is a beautiful, honest survivor w/ great aesthetic from muzzle to butt. CONDITION: fine overall. Bbl. has an overall mottled plum patina w/ strong bright factory blue in protected areas & scattered pitting blue throughout. Frame is smooth dark mottled silver/gray. Cylinder has strong, mostly complete rolled Naval battle cyl. scene. Grips are sound & well fit w/ moderate edge wear & light tacking marks. Inspector cartouches are both visible but lightly struck on left side but sm. inspection letter K is crisp on left side abutting frame. Mechanically fine w/ crisp bright bore. Holster is matching very good to fine condition, the original closure tab has been reinforced w/ modern silk thread. Scattered scuffing. (01-20014/JS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-4,000.
