SOLD BY ROGERS & SLOCOMB NEW ORLEANS. Cal. 45. NSN. This elegant pistol measures 17" overall w/ 12" oct. smoothbore bbl. w/ inset brass blade front sight & notched rear sight w/ series of stamped decorations on top flat & muzzle. Flint lock w/ water proof pan, roller frizzen, serpentine cock engraved “ROGERS & SLOCOMB / WARRANTED”. Note the maker’s mark has the ampersand above the maker’s mark. This name was not used after 1834 when Rogers left the partnership. This pistol has simple lines, brass mounts w/ maple stock. CONDITION: very good overall. Iron has overall gray patina. Brass has medium mustard patina. Stock has hand worn patina w/ scattered cosmetic blemishes. Mechanically fine w/ clear smooth bore. There is a well disguised inset wood repair between the lock and bbl. tang. PROVENANCE: Collection of John Montague. (01-20725/JS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-6,000.
