MANNLICHER SCHOENAUER. Cal. 6.5x54 MS. S# 18104. Bbl. 18" rnd. These handy little rifles are always popular & are hard to find in better than average condition w/ good bores. This rifle is in standard configuration except that trigger is of single stage type not the usual double set. The 6.5 carbines like this one had 18" tapered rnd. bbls. This rifle is fitted w/ single folding leaf rear sight marked for 300 yds. & usual German silver front bead in short matted ramp. Typical action w/ rotary magazine, has all correct factory markings on matted receiver ring & left side wall. Bolt stop has been fitted w/ Lyman 36 sight w/ spring loaded swinging aperture, allowing bolt to clear. Stock of relatively plain European walnut extends to muzzle in typical fashion w/ steel cap, bail type sling attachment & horn capped pistol grip. Steel buttplate has trap for cleaning equipment (not present). Stock also features sm. right hand cheekpiece & point pattern checkering at grip & forend. LOP: 13 3/4". WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 11 oz. CONDITION: fine. Bbl. & action retaining 85-90% original blue, silvered on high edges. Floorplate retains most of its blue, beginning to rub through from normal hand wear. Stock retains 70-80% original varnish finish w/ numerous scratches & a few scrapes. Areas of wear are seen at grip & on bottom at balance point. Checkering is lightly worn. There are some sm. cracks radiating from top of buttplate at heel. Bore is very fine to excellent, shiny w/ sharp rifling throughout. Mechanically smooth. (20-1663/MGM14). CURIO. $1,000-2,250.
