FINE & ORIGINAL PAIR OF BRASS BARRELLED FLINTLOCK

PISTOLS W/ FOLDING BAYONETS, MARKED "THOMAS & STORRS, LONDON, CIRCA 1820". Cal. 18 Ga. Approx. 64. NSN. 13-1/2" Overall w/ 8" oct. bbls. Top flats marked "London" w. commercial Birmingham proofs on left side of breech. Pistols are mounted w/ spring loaded, top mounted steel folding bayonets, retained by sliding bolts on bbl tangs. Locks are engraved "Thomas & Storrs" w/ border engraving; also sunburst & floral engraving. Locks are fitted w/ flat serpentine unsupported cock, sliding safeties, bridled roller frizzen; waterproof pans, frizzen springs w/ rounded finials. Walnut stocks are brass mounted w/ vacant oval silver thumb plates. The stock is attached to bbl. w/ 2 keys (no escutcheons), brass tipped ramrods retain worms & appear to be original. Brass trigger guard terminates w/ engraved pineapple finials; the bows are engraved. CONDITION: very good to fine. Brass w/ old polish displays light mustard patina; iron & steel is mostly gray w/ traces of finish in protected areas. The beautiful walnut stocks are sound & solid w/ scattered & minor cosmetic blemishes consistent w/ age & use; small area of smooth shallow gouging (more like denting w/ NO raised grain) between back end of trigger guard & lock plateau that is not offensive. Mechanically fine; clear, smooth bores. (01-20162). ANTIQUE. $5,500-7,500.
