ACTION GAME GUN WITH CASE. Cal. 16 ga. 2 1/2". S# 27391. The 27 1/2" dovetailed bbls. are fitted with slightly raised matted concave game rib. Bbl. flats are stamped with 1947 Belgian nitro proofs for 65mm chambers. Choke and steel information are marked on bottoms of bbls. Bottom of rear lump is stamped "LTC" and there appears to be a maker's mark which is indecipherable. Coin finished boss type rnd. bodied sidelock action is stocked to the fences and features nonautomatic safety ("S" inlaid in gold), Purdey type hidden third fastener, bushed and vented strikers, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators, and double triggers (front articulated). Action and locks are engraved with very well cut and nicely shaded varying size but mostly large open scroll within geometric borders. Trigger guard with matching scroll on bow has serial number on tang. Slightly swan necked straight grip buttstock of well marbled and lightly figured European walnut measures 15" over checkered wood butt on 1 1/4" lengthening piece that matches well as to color, but not marbling. Point pattern checkering is at grip and a sling loop matching that screwed to bottom rib of bbl. is on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend with Anson release has interesting floating uncheckered diamonds in pattern. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .668", L .667". Stockes retain nearly all of a best oil refinish, most likely done at time of stock addition. Checkering appears to be cleaned but not recut. Bores are shiny and bright but some light frosting bordering on pitting can be seen at breech ends of both bbls. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is fine with some minor scuffs. Handle is good. Interior cloth shows some rubs and soiling. Some partitions have been reworked and smaller compartment cover has nonmatching cloth.
