20 GAUGE GAME GUN. Cal. 20 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 14246. This finely made gun retailed for about $500 in 1960. It has 26" Chopper lump bbls. w/ slightly raised matted rib. Bbls. are unmarked on tops. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ Franchi logos & 1960 Italian Nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped w/ steel type "VICKERS" & choke information. Coin finished rnd. bodied side lock action features non automatic safety, bushed strikers & dbl. triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved in what appears to be the style used on the "Imperiale S" grade w/ near full coverage rose & scroll. Water table is stamped "CONDOR" & that grade usually featured much less engraving. Bottom of action is engraved w/ maker's name & address. Scroll engraved top lever & trigger guard are blued. Rnd. bodied boss style straight grip buttstock measures 14 1/2" over plastic Franchi buttplate. Stock is made of attractively veined European walnut. Flat top point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: DIAMETER: Left .627, Right .629. CHOKE CONSTRICTION: Left .010 (IC), .008 (IC). WALL THICKNESS: Right .024, Left .022. STOCKS: LOP: DAH: 2 7/16". DAC: 1 7/16". No cast. WEIGHT: 5 lbs., 8 oz. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Bbls. retaining nearly all of their lustrous original blue w/ a few scattered scratches & a hint of silvering on sharp edges. Action retains nearly all of its coin finish. There is just a hint of silvering on top lever thumb piece & safety. Trigger guard tang is showing some thinning of blue. Stocks retaining all of their varnish finish w/ some lifting of grain & scattered light scratches. Checkering is lightly worn & slightly dirty. Chrome lined bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight. Ejectors are strong & in time. A fine little lightweight gun from the 60's in need of some cleaning up. It appears to be essentially unfired. (21-3740/MGM). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
