DRAGOON PISTOL BY JORDAN DATED 1733. Cal. 56. NSN. Bbl. 12", has Birmingham proofs at rear. 1730 Style lock w/ arched bottom line to plate, fitted w/ rounded serpentine cock & has unbridled frizzen & feather spring w/ simple ovate finial. The initials "GR" under a crown are in front of cock & rear portion of plate engraved "Jordan” 1733. There is dbl. line border engraving on lockplate which matches that found on cock & frizzen. Walnut stock is pinned to bbl. & extends to muzzle. There are raised carved fields around lockplate, sideplate & bbl. tang. Brass furniture includes heavy spurred grip cap w/ lg. boss, lg. flat, file decorated sideplate & brass trigger guard w/ foliate finial engraved "H. TROOP" on bow. Brass escutcheon at top of grip is marked "2/35". What appears to be original ramrod w/ flared brass tip mts. through one beaded pipe & matching thimble. CONDITION: fine, appears all original. Bbl. & lock w/ old cleaning now mostly gray & brown patina w/ scattered overall pitting. Wood is mostly sound & complete w/ one sm. sliver repair to right side of bbl. channel and a stable crack through butt w/ old iron tack repair. Other surfaces have fine hand worn patina w/ scattered marks & dings. There are some minor repairs & filler of worn mounting holes at rear bbl. pin & also that which holds trigger guard tang.
