FINE WWII JAPANESE KATANA & ARROW QUIVER WITH

ARROWS.
1) KATANA. Overall length: 37 3/4". Blade length: 25 1/4". Blade has an irregular wavy hamon w/ a silver plated copper habaki. There are 4 seppa below the tsuba & also 4 above the tsuba. Nakago has a lengthy 21 character signature w/ the remnants of a painted signature on the other side of the tang. There is a single mekugi-ano. Tsuba is plain brass w/ black enamel under the first lg. seppa that has a rayed design above & below the tsuba. Matching fuchi & kabuto-gane w/ 3 cherry blossom menuki on each side. Black same w/ brown tsuka-ito & brown & blue tassel attached to the kabuto-gane. Military style saya w/ brass mounts decorated w/ cherry blossoms. Saya appears to be covered in fish skin over a wooden core. An exceptionally fine katana w/ a far earlier blade than mounts. CONDITION: blade shows no nicks to the edge & no flaws to the steel. Tsuka shows moderate wear particularly to the same & tsuka ito. Saya is solid but the fish skin wrap has shrunk somewhat.
2) QUIVER & ARROWS. A Japanese enamel painted wicker quiver likely from the 1st quarter of the 20th century. Quiver measures approx. 37 1/2” in length & is finished in a black highlighted cinnabar red color. A silk cord w/ tassels attaches the cover to the body of the quiver. The quiver contains 3 Japanese arrows approx. 35" in length. Each arrow is bamboo w/ 3 fletches & an iron point. 2 Of the arrows have paper labels at the base of the fletches w/ Japanese writing. CONDITION: quiver is substantially solid but has a weak spot approx. 16" up from the base. The base does show minor losses. Arrows have losses to the fletches but are otherwise in good condition.
