SNYDER COUNTY. Cal. 45 rifled. NSN. Bbl. 39" full oct. initialed "JS". Unmarked hand forged flintlock. Bbl. is held to the stock w/ wedges & the stock has 14 silver inlays & a 5" brass saddle plate w/ 1 piercing. 4 Piece brass patchbox has 5 piercings & the stock behind the cheekpiece is nicely incise carved. There is a 4 1/2" brass comb inlay. Snyder County style sideplate is heavy beveled brass. Dallas Ewing located Jacob Smith in Beaver Township, Snyder County. CONDITION: seems to be clean, solid & original throughout w/ the exception the external parts on the lock are incorrect replacements. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19660/RG).
