BOULTON PA. Cal. 60. NSN. Bbl. 36 1/2" w/ oct. breech section marked "J.J. HENRY" "BOULTON" on top flat. Transitions to rnd. through 2 turned bands. Lock w/ slightly arched plate features serpentine cock, integral pan, bridled friction frizzen & feather spring w/ spear finial. Center of plate is marked "J.J. HENRY BOULTON" (working 1786-1836). Walnut stock extends to muzzle & is pinned to bbl. Furniture consists of a relatively plain large bow iron trigger guard, brass buttplate & cast brass coiled dragon sideplate affixed by 2 lock screws & a third wood screw at rear. Ramrod is missing. 2 Fancy turned pipes are present w/ no thimble. Stock features early style fluted comb, raised beavertail around bbl. tang & moldings & drop points around lock & left side panel. CONDITION: good to very good. Bbl. w/ cleaned silver highlights over heavy dark patina. Area w/ signature shows cleaning. Lock w/ some cleaning is mostly gray/brown patina. Stock retains most of its original oil finish w/ numerous marks & dings. Brass is well toned. Rusted bore. Lock catches at half cock. (01-20328/MGM). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
