Cal. Approx. 48. NSN. Bbl. 10" oct. w/ smooth bore & brass blade front sight. Front flat of bbl. is marked w/ partially legible maker's name. Plain, non-engraved lock plate & hammer. Pin fastened maple stock w/ incise carving along ramrod channel. Brass fittings consist of buttcap, triggerguard, sideplate, thimble, pipe & nosecap. Left side of stock has brass ID pin "232". Top of wrist has oval nameplate. Hardwood ramrod. "American Gunsmiths" by Frank Sellers gives the following listing: "GROCE, H., unlocated. Percussion over/under rifle." Consignor supplied information states: "Union Township, Union County, PA". CONDITION: metal has clean gray appearance showing light pitting w/ weakened markings. Sanded & refinished stock shows grain checks through butt w/ sm. chip by top tang & repaired break on left side of forearm. Polished brass sound lock. Lightly pitted smooth bore.
