FRED BEAR'S BORSALINO HAT
FRED BEAR'S BORSALINO HAT (on permanent display at the Pope and Young Museum)
Have your name attached to one of the actual iconic Fred Bear Borsalino hats. This hat was worn by legendary bowhunter and father of modern bowhunting, Fred Bear. This incredible piece of bowhunting history was donated to the Club by Fred’s wife, Henrietta after Fred passed. The winning bidder will have his or her name engraved as co-owner along with all past owners.
A young automobile worker became enthralled with the idea of hunting with the bow and arrow at one of Art Young’s lectures in Detroit, Michigan. That young man was Fred Bear. Young Fred Bear immediately began making archery equipment and, by 1933, had founded Bear Products Company. Fred introduced mass production to archery equipment, making and inventing countless adaptations of bowhunting equipment. His films, books, articles and television appearances captured the imagination of millions. He is arguably the most well-known and visible bowhunter of the 20th Century.
