Fabarm/Savage Model 444B 12 Ga SN: 59542B
Made in Italy for Savage this is an O/U shotgun chambered for 2.75" 12 gauge shells circa 1969-1972. It features 28" hard chrome lined, vent rib barrels blued to match the box lock receiver. The barrels have a silver front and mid-bead. The stock and fore-end are European Walnut with fine line checkering at the wrist and on the semi-beaver tail fore-end which also has finger grooves on both sides above the checkering and has a White Line recoil pad installed. The 444-B was advertised as the Deluxe model with ejectors and a unique selective single trigger. There is nice simple engraving on the receiver and around the top lever. Savage and the Indian logo are engraved on the bottom in front of the trigger guard. The metal finish looks good but there is some loss of finish on the right side of the barrels along with some splotchy spots. There is also a bulge on the outside of the bottom barrel about an inch or two from the muzzle but doesn't seem to show on the inside of the bore. The wood stocks look fine with the usual scuffs and scrapes for a gun that's seen some use. There is however a lot of tape residue around the wrist. There are no cracks anywhere but they wrapped tape around the wrist and grip cap area maybe for fit. The bores look good but dirty. Chokes: Top barrel marked Full, bottom barrel marked Modified. LOP is 14.25". Nice gun, needs cleaned and a little TLC. Condition is NRA Good+ *Modern Firearm*
