Fabrique Nationale High Power 9mm #98031a
Wartime Occupation semiautomatic single action Browning HP-35 pistol. No importer markings observed. After occupying Belgium in 1940, German forces took over the FN plant. German troops subsequently used the Hi-Power, having assigned it the designation Pistole 640(b) ("b" for belgisch, "Belgian") The Germans introduced a new serial code numbering system in early 1943, starting with 1a and continuing to 99999a. This serial number dates it to 1943. Production stopped in 1944 after liberation by allied forces. This pistol is the 3rd and last produced with waffenamt Eagle/WaW140-arms inspector of Luttich. Most of the Browning Hi-Power 35s or Pistole 640(b) were issued to Waffen-SS and Fallschirmjäger personnel. Left slide stamped "Fabrique Nationale D'armes De Guerre Herstal Belgique: Browning's Patent Depose", Eagle/Swastika acceptance proof and Waffenamt WaW140 is found on the left frame and slide (two places- left side and front under barrel). Eagle/Swastika proof on the barrel. Serial number is matched on the right frame, slide and barrel. Checkered wood grips are very good, no cracks or chips, action is smooth, bore is very good/bright, blue is about 90% with handling wear and minor thinning. Some rough machine tool marks under finish, edges look correct and markings are crisp. One 13 rd magazine (unmarked, appears correct for FN manufacture). Includes brown leather flap holster marked "dla 44" and "WaA1xx (last two digits unreadable)", "POOR" in pen or pencil under flap, "77" and a crude "totenkopf" image scratched into face of flap.
