Outstanding Factory Engraved Winchester Model 90 Pump Action Rifle, #802491, .22 LR cal., 24'' octagonal barrel, Alden George Ulrich engraved with circle frame deer motif as similarly executed by both Alden's father Conrad and his uncle George; blue finish, checkered pistol-grip fancy walnut stock and forend, standard front and rear sights, gutta percha Winchester marked pistol-grip cap, and lightly engraved blue steel crescent buttplate. Accompanying letter from Pauline Muerrle, Custom Shop engraver and author of the book ''Winchester, The Way It Really Was'', states that all work has been executed in the typical factory style, and that although the engraving is not a standard factory pattern, the deer motif is identical to the motifs in the Winchester highly finished arms catalog. She further states that this was obviously a Special Order gun considering the exceptional wood. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 97%+ original factory blue, with the majority of losses in the actioning area behind the pump, and several micro-scratches to frame flats. Stock, action and bore are excellent. As Ms. Muerrle states in her letter, ''This is a very lovely example of Ulrich engraving and overall factory work.'' Est.: $35,000-$50,000. (C&R)
