Factory Refinished Post-War Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector Third Model (Model of 1926 Transition Variation) Double Action Revolver, #S63353, .44 S&W Spec. cal., 6.5" pinned barrel, blue finish, checkered diamond center walnut Magna grips with S&W medallions, round blade front and standard square-notched rear sights, with a color case hardened hammer and trigger. Frame and yoke with matching assembly numbers (4803). Barrel, cylinder, extractor, and back of right grip are numbered to the gun. Shipped to George Lawrence Co., Portland, OR., July 24, 1946; with factory letter signed by S&W Historian Roy G. Jinks. Letter does not specify any of the revolver's features. There are small "(diamond)" rework marks stamped on the barrel and cylinder. Left side of the grip frame is marked with a "(boxed)R-S" refinish mark and a date of 4/73. Metal surfaces rate in about fine overall condition, as refinished, approx. 96% blue remains, with a little mild frosting to the backstrap. Light scratching to the trigger guard and muzzle wear accounts for most of the finish loss. Factory lettering is clear. Only trace amounts of case coloring remain on the hammer. Case colors on the trigger are primarily vibrant, but there is some mild pitting visible on the left side and face. Grips show general age and handling wear but remain serviceable. Right grip is darker in color; left grip shows more thinning and finish loss. There are a few spots of mild rust to the sides of the grip frame, under the grips. Action cycles smoothly and cylinder locks up well, with just a little rotational movement. Bore is very good, bright with well-defined rifling, and a few minor spots of fouling in the grooves. Est.: $1,500-$1,800. (C&R/PPT)
