These iron fragments were found in the ashes of Fire Pit #3. Likely fired from one of the Alamo cannons, as most cannon balls used by the Mexican army were bronze. We could not find enough portions to make a full cannon ball. With provenance letter detailing the excavation of the relic from a well documented dig on the North East section of the Alamo battleground. During the battle, the third column of Santa Anna's Army attempted to breach the Northeast section, along with Mexican cavalry. They failed to breach the wall as the Texas defenders repulsed both waves. This section of the battlefield would have seen heavy cannon & musket fire, and likely heavy casualties on the Mexican side in this area of the battlefield.
