This jar of sand was recently collected from the beach of Iwo Jima byt 1st Sgt Ryan Leighton, USMC (ret), and donated to Hunts for the Brave along with a rare photo of a few of the marines who helped seize and occupy the crest of Mount Suribachi allowing for the raising of our flag on that historic day, February 23, 1945, during one of the most famous battles of World War II. The photo is also signed by one of the brave Marines present that day. 1st Sgt Leighton has generously donated these items to Hunts for the Brave in support of its mission to provide memorable hunting experiences to the brave men and women of our military who have gone in harm’s way to protect and defend our freedom.
All proceeds raised for this auction item go directly to Hunts for the Brave, a non-profit affiliate organization of Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife. 100% of all contributions made to Hunts for the Brave go directly towards funding its mission.
