American made Premier Grade single-action Single Action Revolver with Side Loading Gate Cylinder, centerfire revolver chambered for .454 Casull, manufactured in Freedom, WY. Stainless steel construction, 12" barrel, front sight is a serrated ramped blade and is set on a smooth ramped base fixed to the barrel. The front sight is secured with an allen head at the front of the base. The rear sight is a flat topped square notched target sight dovetailed to a base screwed to the topstrap. Dick Casull designed the model 83 in the 1980's, and it became known for being a precision revolver that could handle heavy cartridges. Five-round unfluted cylinder, knurled cylinder pin head, frame mounted firing pin, serrated hammer spur, crescent style ejector rod button, smooth grip straps, and the two-piece grips are laminated hardwood with resin bonding. The original stainless finish retained is approximately 99% with only superficial scratches. Metal displays no rust or deformation. Bore is excellent/ bright with strong rifling, and the cylinder chambers are also excellent. The action is smooth and crisp with a tight lock-up, and the wood grips are excellent. Comes with manual with matching serial number, Freedom Arms .454 Casull solid brass belt buckle, freedom arms thick brown leather belt cartridge holder with six loops containing six .454 blanks, and a lot of NAA .454 Casull cartridges, the rounds trace back to Rocky Mountain Arms Corp (RMAC), which was founded by Dick Casull and eventually changed its name to North American Arms (NAA). Before Freedom Arms released their Model 83 in 1983, a limited run of full-sized, five-shot revolvers was made by NAA. These NAA-headstamped brass cases were manufactured specifically to hold the massive pressures of the newly developed .454 Casull cartridge. A distinct feature of this rare, original NAA brass is that it utilizes Large Rifle primer pockets, unlike most modern .454 brass which uses Small Rifle or Small Pistol primers. Because only a handful of these revolvers were produced in the late 1970s and 1978, original NAA-headstamped cartridges are highly sought after by cartridge collectors and are considered quite scarce. Includes 30 cartridges in blue plastic Freedom Arms box and 74 cartridges in red plastic box, all NAA headstamped and jacketed soft points. Total of 104 cartridges. We could not find any for sale for value.
