French Gaulois No. 2 Squeeze-Action Pocket Palm Pistol, in original fitted russet leather cigar-style case, #T21300, 8mm cal., 2.125'' round barrel with German silver post front sight marked ''Gaulois'' with ''(crossed cannons and arrow) / ''MF'' trademark; top of receiver marked ''No. 2'' and ''Cal. 8m/m'', and ''Manufacture + Francaise Saint-Etienne / Armes Et Cycles'' within circular mark. Top, bottom and sides of receiver ornately etched in a high-grade Art Nouveau floral pattern. Left side safety lever marked ''S'' (safe), ''F'' (fire) and ''D'' (disassemble). Originally with rare blued and case hardened finish. Includes a five-round magazine. Condition is excellent showing most original blue to barrel and receiver, toning case hardening to sliding squeeze bar, the latter with remnants of what appears to be old red paint and a top chip on the checkered hard rubber butt. The fitted leather case is very fine with light wear, most original finish, and a lovely gold-embossed circular logo matching that on the pistol's receiver. Action seems functional; bore is fine. A quite rare and desirable unique-action pistol, circa 1897-1910. Est.: $2,500-$3,500. (Antique)
