French M1916 Berthier Bolt Action Rifle, with bayonet and scabbard, #6924, 8x50Rmm cal., 17.7'' barrel, blued/painted finish with bright bolt, hardwood stock, blade front sight and adjustable folding leaf rear sight. Marked on left side of receiver ''ETTS CONTINSOUZA MLE-M-16''. Hand stamped ''PK'' on left side of cocking piece. ''N'' stamped on top of chamber. Faint roundel stamp on right side of buttstock. Matching numbers. Carbine has had 1927 modification where cleaning rod was removed and stacking swivel attached. Most of the painted finish has worn off receiver and barrel now turning to a brown patina. Condition overall is very good with approx. 60% of the blued finish remaining on the balance of the small parts; bright bolt handle turned dark. Wood has been arsenal refinished with a flat matte stain. Muzzle has a significant damaged area on left side of crown. Action is smooth, bore itself is excellent with sharp rifling. No visible import stamps. Includes a black leather French sling in good condition. French M1892 bayonet has a 15.75'' blade and is 20.25'' overall. Marked on blade ricasso with a small ''B'' inside of a diamond and has #13747 stamped on the quillion; steel scabbard is unmarked. Condition overall is fair with patina on the blade and old rust on the crossguard. Grip shows discoloration, chips and flaking; scabbard is good with one small dent and overall rust spots.
