French military converted percussion pistol with .69 caliber bore, manufactured at the Châtellerault Armory and dated 1910. Features an 8" barrel, open sights, lock marked "Mre Imp ale de Chatellerault", tang marked "M1882 bis", brass furniture and one piece wood stock. Finish is an even brown patina with pitting near muzzle. Wood has cracks but no missing wood. Brass has a nicely aged patina. Action does not function. Our consigner states that this gun belonged to her family, her great grandfather, a soldier was in battle when a Frenchman has the advantage on him & went to cock his pistol when the spring broke, this pistol was then taken as a souvenir of a near death experience and remained in the family until now.
