High quality French side-by-side boxlock shotgun. 'Guild" gun made by craftsmen in Saint-Etienne, Heurtier barrels marked "MEDAILLE D'CR" (Gold Medal), St. Etienne and "PT" proofs and other French proofs. "ACIER FIN" (Refined Steel), matched serial number on watertable and barrels, "65" (2 1/2" chambers). 27" blued barrels with knurled low-profile rib, brass sighting bead, top lever, sliding tang safety, serial number matched on water table, barrels and lower tang, sling swivels, single extractor, double triggers. Beautiful engraved, scalloped action with full coverage floral/scroll engraving, splinter push-button, checkered forearm, straight wrist shoulder stock with horn buttplate and checkered panel at wrist. Overall length-43", Lop-13 7/8" to front trigger. Bores are bright with scattered pits above the chambers, blue on barrels has dulled somewhat but mostly all there, action engraving is sharp with traces of case color, barrels lock-up tight, wood is good/sound no cracks, checkering is a bit worn, has some scratches/ding, some dents with a little finish loss on the underside of the shoulder stock and the buttplate has some worm holes and a small chip out of the bottom. "fusil de chasse" from the early 20th century.
