NVSN Pistol. Single-shot percussion. French Navy pistol. The model 1837 was the first percussion gun manufactured for the French military. 11 1/2" overall with a 6" round smooth bore barrel. The tang is marked "Mle 1837". The lock is marked "Mre Rle de Tulle". (Tulle Arsenal) French proofs present. This pistol was manufactured in 1841 with date under the nipple. Swivel ramrod. The brass band, butt cap and triggerguard have a nice patina. Lanyard ring on butt cap with "M" below an anchor (Marine) Steel escutcheon on the left side of stock. Metal is bright with clear markings, has some minor scratches. Bore appears very good. Wood stock is excellent. Nipple is excellent. Two-cock hammer action is crisp/tight. A really nice conditioned pistol. NRA Condition-Excellent. Antique Firearm.
