42 PUMP SHOTGUN. Cal. 410, 3". S# 145611. Sides of receiver feature stunning gold & silver inlaid depictions of American plains Indians. Right side features a prairie scene w/ a wagon train in the background. One Indian wearing headdress is mounted & another is kneeling on the ground. Scene includes 3 gold & silver horses. Left side features a gold & silver inlaid war party of 9 plains Indians in battle dress on charging horses. Scenes are surrounded by finely executed foliate scroll w/ punch dot backgrounds that continues to upper & lower receiver surfaces, trigger guard bow, bbl. extension, muzzle, mag. band & mag. cap which also has a gold border. Receiver, extension & muzzle have gold inlaid borders & trim. Engraver's signature "Gino Cargnel" is located on bottom of receiver forward of the loading port. Gino Cargnel was a Belgian trained Master Engraver for Fabrique Nationale. Gino later moved to the Los Angeles area where he worked as an independent engraver of quality firearms. Bbl. 28" w/ large round post vent rib having red target front sight w/ steel bead. Bbl. & receiver have standard "WP" proofs. Choke is remarked "WS-1". Jeweled bolt & carrier. Gold washed trigger. Beavertail extension forearm & straight comb pistol grip stock of gloss finished exhibition quality walnut. Brass diamond inlay in ebony grip cap is marked "J.L. Dockwiller". Jack Lee Dockwiller (Jan. 1925-Feb. 2018) of Redlands, CA was a renowned custom stock maker. This wood features his impressive borderless segmented fleur de lis style hand checkering. LOP: 14 1/2" over a thin black Pachmayr presentation pad. DAC: 1 9/16". DAH: 2 5/16". Gun was mfg. in 1961. CONDITION: over 97% finely polished custom blue showing light slide wear. Trigger shows some thinning of gold finish. Stocks have very good gloss finish showing small handling marks with a hairline crack extending from right side of action. Stock has slight gap at bottom of action from tang drop adjustment. Sound action. Very good bright bore. (22-2302/DS). CURIO. $10,000-15,000.
