Cal. 16x16 / 9x72R. Grove Dia. is .354. S# 434. Bbls. 26 5/8" fitted w/ full length matted top rib w/ pop up rear & silver bead front sights are also fitted w/ claw scope bases. Bottoms of bbls. stamped w/ imperial German nitro proofs for 16 Ga. & 8.7x72. Bottom of rifle bbl. w/ proof date “4.20”. Rnd. bodied underlever opening blitz action features rifle selector on top tang, Greener type side safety, pin cocking indicators on top & dbl. triggers (front set). Action engraved w/ near full coverage, semi-relief scrolling oak leaves w/ acorn highlights surrounding scenes of game on sides w/ calling auherhahn on left & interesting scene of stag at front looking back over shoulder at hind in under growth on right. Relatively plain European walnut, sunburst horn capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 7/8" over open sided white line pad. Stock features point pattern checkering, shadow line right hand cheekpiece, & a cartridge trap on toeline engraved w/ roebuck & doe being pursued by a hound. Matching splinter forend has Deeley type release. CONDITION: bbls. retaining nearly all of a glossy reblack, most details heavily washed. Action retains most of what appears to be its original French gray finish. Stocks have old heavy oil refinish, checkering recut. Extractor lugs on bbl. have been welded & reshaped. Bottom screw on action replaced, 3/4” chip is missing at buttstock intercepting w/ action on left side. Forend has resin or plastic wood infill along sides & toward tip. Shotgun bores are very good w/ some scattered pitting. Rifle bore dark & lightly pitted throughout. Action is slightly loose, set trigger will not set. (21-1633/MGM). MODERN. $800-1,500.
