Lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 13 5/8" over red Silver type pad. Flat top point pattern checkering is at grip & a gold oval engraved "R.B." is on toeline (matching initials on case). Matching splinter "AB Ejector" forend has inlet steel tip & Deely release. MEASUREMENTS: BARRELS: Bore diameter: R 775 L 776. Restriction: R .043 (FULL) L .040 (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .036 L .033. STOCK: LOP: 13 5/8". DAC: 1 9/16". DAH: 2 5/8". Cast: 1/2" off. WEIGHT: 8 lbs. 11 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in its original leather case w/ central brass medallion on top. Top is also embossed "R.B.". Case is lined in scarlet cloth & has gold embossed black leather Holland & Holland label in lid, along w/ charge card for this particular gun. Case contains a pair of snapcaps marked "London", some cleaning equipment, powder measure & remnants of the original recoil pad. CONDITION: good to fine, mostly original. Gun is in need of a good cleaning & metal parts are covered by a layer of lacquer & grime, making condition assessment difficult. Bbls. retain most of their original blue w/ light scattering of marks & dings w/ silvering at muzzles. Action & locks retain a considerable amount of original case hardening color, but appear grayish brown from lacquer & grime. Stocks retain most of their original oil finish, considerably darkened on forend w/ scattering of marks & dings. Checkering somewhat worn on forend, little less so on grip & has not been recut. Pad is a relatively new replacement. Bores are very fine to excellent, shiny w/ some scattered to very light pitting/frosting. Action is slightly loose, bbl. somewhat off face. Gun would benefit greatly from a new hinge pin. Ejectors are strong & in time. Case is generally poor, leather scuffed & soiled. One strap missing, the other broken; handle is missing. One end of top detached & in case. Interior cloth has considerable insect damage, Holland label is good w/ 1 rub through; charge card w/ insect damage & foxing. Partitions are good, access. are good. A lovely old gun that just needs a bit of work. (20-1641/MGM3). CURIO. $5,000 - 8,000.
