Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 22458. Mfg. 1915. Bbls. 28", w/ matted concave rib engraved "Krupp Fluid Steel made by" "A.H. Fox Gun Co Phila. PA.". There is 1 3/4" area of deeply cut acanthus scroll on breech ends. Bbl. flats stamped w/ grade, S# & Fox proof. Bottoms of bbls. w/ Krupp steel information. Case hardened boxlock Fox action w/ rotary bolt features automatic safety & dbl. triggers. Action engraved in usual "XE" style w/ near full coverage lg. semi relief stylized oak leaves. This dramatic engraving surrounds oval game scenes on sides under "Ansley H. Fox". A pair of ducks are on left & quail on right. A fox with a hang dog look is on bottom. Blued trigger guard with matching acanthus and some acorn highlights has shield at center. S# is on tang. Rnd. knob buttstock of well marbled European walnut measures 14 1/8" over old, possibly original "Silver" pad. Usual "D" style checkering is on side panels & at grip & exhibits ribbon through grip pattern. Matching long splinter ejector forend has inlet ebony schnabel tip & Fox's adaptation of a Deeley release. Wall Thickness: R. .022", L. .022", STOCK: LOP: 14 1/8", DAC: 1 9/16", DAH: 2 9/16", Cast: 0. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 11 oz. CONDITION: very good to fine as partially refinished. Bbls. w/ nearly all of a good quality reblack. Sharp edges & engraving somewhat softened. Action retains a considerable amount (% difficult to assess because of extensive engraving) original case hardening color, possibly as much as 40%. Trigger guard has most of a reblue. Stocks retain about 90% original oil finish w/ a scattering of light & somewhat deeper marks. Checkering lightly worn. Bright shiny bores w/ dent removal on right bbl. 12" from breech end.
