GOOD CHARLEVILLE MODEL 1763 MUSKET.

Cal. 69. NSN. Standard configuration. 44 ¾” tapered round barrel with bayonet lug on top front. Has remnant of stamps at rear, one appears “D”. Breech plug has had later windage adjustable v notch rear sight added. Lock with chamfered flat plate has reinforced cock inset, bridled friction frizzen ^& feather spring with bulbous finial. Top of plate in front of cock stamped “D” & remnants of “CHARLEVILLE” are visible below. Walnut handrail type stock is iron mounted & attaches to barrel with 3 spring retained bands. Left side of stock opposite lock is lightly carved “P” “X”. Trumpet shaped ramrod is present as well as sling loops. CONDITION: good. Bbl. Retaining all dark brown patina over light pitting. Breech area heavily pitted. Bbl. Has been revented. Lock shows cleaning to pewter gray over considerable pitting & is in original flint configuration. Interior showing matching assembly marks on bridle & pan. Lock, barrel & stock appear to have always been together. Stock shows light cleaning overall with old oil refinish. Repaired crack on left side of barrel channel with some missing wood otherwise stock is sound and attractive. Cock is loose on tumbler. Frizzen cam is considerably worn & does not compress feather spring; otherwise lock is operable. Bore is pitted throughout. (01-21385/MGM). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
