WEBLEY & SCOTT WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2". S# 114628. 26" bbls. have Webley & Scott name & "Birmingham" engraved on tops. "2 IN" is gold inlaid in front of engraved "CARTRIDGE" on very narrow swamped game rib. Bbl. flats stamped w/ Birmingham nitro proofs for 2" chambers & 7/8 oz. of shot. Case hardened arch backed boxlock action features screw grip third fastener, automatic safety, bushed strikers, and dbl. triggers. Action engraved w/ 60% coverage varying size shaded scroll. Maker's name is on riband on each side. Blued top lever, floorplate & trigger guard engraved w/ matching scroll. S# is on trigger guard tang. Well marbled & lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15" over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at grip behind nicely shaped drop points & a vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Importer's mark is on forend iron. MEASUREMENTS: bbls.: bore diameter: right: .731", left: .733". Restriction: right: .019" (MOD), left: .040" (FULL). Minimum Wall Thickness: right: .021", left: .022". STOCK: DAH: 2 1/8". DAC: 1 1/2+". LOP: 15". CAST: approx. 5/8" off. WEIGHT: 5 lbs. 11 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun housed in what appears to be its original tan leather trimmed green canvas case. Rectangular label on top has embossed "I.B.C.". Interior lined in dark green cloth & black Webley & Scott label is in lid along w/ a retailer's label "C.D. Vaughan". CONDITION: good to fine as partially refinished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a good quality reblack w/ some subsequent silvering at muzzles. Action retains approx. 60% original case hardening color w/ sides of fences & bottom silvered. Top lever, floorplate, trigger plate & trigger guard retain nearly all of a reblue. Engraving slightly softened. Stocks retain nearly all of a hand rubbed oil finish w/ a few light subsequent marks on buttstock & some old dents on forend. Grip checkering has been recut. Bores are bright, smooth & shiny w/ scant evidence of an old repaired dent about 7" back from muzzle in right bbl. Action is tight, bbls. are on face. Ejectors are in time. Exterior of case is very good w/ some rubs & marks. Straps & handle are good. Interior cloth is also good to fine w/ some rubs & soiling.
