PISTOL. Cal. 44. S# 11330. Bbl. 7 1/2". Standard production. Bbl. marked “ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW. YORK CITY.” on top. Frame w/ Colts patent & “US” marking. Matching S#s are on bbl., frame, cyl. & both brass grip straps. Last 3 digits are on takedown lug. Inspectors mark “JCB” (Joseph C. Bragg) is on left side of walnut grip & “WAT” (William Anderson Thornton, chief inspector) is on right. The initial “B” is stamped on all major parts, including bbl. above “CITY”, left side of loading lever, frame, cyl. (to the left of S#), as well as both brass straps. CONDITION: good. Iron parts cleaned to gray patina w/ considerable scattered pitting. Most of Indian fight scene in roll engraving on cyl. is present. Brass cleaned & somewhat rounded, toned back to mustard color. Grip w/ old refinish & show wear. Inspector marks under finish are legible. Bore is good, somewhat pitted. Mechanically good. One grip frame screw missing at right rear of trigger guard. Screw on bottom of grip appears to be replacement. Action screws show considerable wear. (01-19206/MGM). ANTIQUE. $3,000-5,000.
