ORIGINAL WALNUT CASE & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 16 Ga., 2 9/16". NSN. Bbl. 27 1/2". Twist bbls. stamped w/ Belgian proof & ga. in mm on bottom. Case hardened Lefaucheaux type action w/ front pivoting lever has captive sm. metal forend w/ matching lever. Action is fitted w/ peninsula back spring locks having nicely filed & sculpted beveled body hammers. Action & locks engraved w/ sprays of scroll engraving & the initials “JKR”(?) are behind pivots of each hammer (possible maker?). Trigger guard is of steel & has deep scrolled portion of bow toward front. Buttstock of somewhat figured European walnut measuring 13 3/8" over steel buttplate w/ long top spur. Sling swivel loops are fitted to toeline & bottom of bbls. Gun is housed in its original walnut case w/ inlet brass corners, case is lined w/ royal blue velvet & is French fitted for gun & numerous accessories. Most are missing, but an original rosewood 3 piece cleaning rod & associated mop & Turk’s head are present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original walnut case, cleaning rod. CONDITION: very good, original as found. Bbls. retaining 40-50% original brown. Bbls. appear to have originally been 29 3/4", but have been cut. Action has traces of originally case hardening color where protected but is mostly bright silver w/ some areas of staining, uncheckered stock retains most of its oil finish. Bores have some light pitting. Action is tight, locks are crisp. Exterior of case retains most of what appears to be its original finish, a lg. crack extends all the way through top & fancy central medallion is missing. Interior cloth is good w/ some soiling & compressions. Cleaning rod is fine. (01-18941/MGM). ANTIQUE. $750-1,500.
