Makers name & "SUHL" engraved on tops. Bbl. flats stamped w/ Nazi era nitro proofs & dated "11/43". Coin finished scallop backed Blitz action features side safety, top tang mounted rifle selector, pin cocking indicators, side clips, crossbolt third fastener & dbl. triggers (front set). Action engraved w/ near full coverage shaded acanthus as background for nicely detailed game scenes on sides; stag & hind grazing in forest meadow on left, roebuck & doe bounding through woodlands on right. Bottom of action is engraved "KRIEGHOFF " DRILLING" �PATENT�. Steel trigger guard has matching engraving on bow. Lightly streaked European walnut hard rubber capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 1/8� over ribbed composition buttplate. Stock features right hand cheekpiece & skip line point pattern checkering at grip. There are sling loops on toeline & bbl. Matching splinter forend has Deeley release. Bore diameter: left - .662, restriction: .030 (IMod), right - .661, restriction: .029 (IMod). Minimum wall thickness: left - .031, right - .035. DAH: 2 13/16�. DAC: 1 5/8�. Cast approx. 1/2� off. WEIGHT: 7 lbs. 0 oz. CONDITION: fine. Bbls. retain approx. 90% what appears to be original blue w/ a few dings & scratches. Coin finish of action is toned a bit w/ some minor staining. Stocks retain approx. 80% of their original hand rubbed oil finish w/ a fair number of scratches & minor dings. Stock shows a repair running from rear of top tang through grip down to trigger guard tang. Checkering nicely cleaned up. Stock remains loose on action & requires more attention. Bores are very fine, bright & shiny. Rifle bore is smooth, shiny w/ perhaps a bit of erosion at throat. Action is tight. Safety is quite loose (needs attention). Set trigger works. Sempert & Krieghoff were known for their superb quality. This wartime production example shows only a minor reduction of workmanship. (20-329/MGM54). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
